Optional Team

As one of the most decorated programs in the country, Airborne’s Optional Team program is dedicated to success. We strive to teach each athlete sound fundamentals, and a strong work ethic. For more information on our Optional Team program please contact our Team Director, Justin Howell.

2010 Optional Season

The 2010 Optional season is underway, and our Level 9/10 gymnasts are off to a great start! We have had two competitions with 1st and 2nd place team finishes at the Team OC Challenge and the Wine Country Classic. Our third competition, The All Olympia “Lights, Camera, Action,” took place in LA. See our amazing highlights below!!

Level 8
Airborne's Level 8 gymnasts opened the 2010 season with a bang, taking first place team honors in Southern California at the OC Classic. Two weeks later, Rohnert Park's Wine Country Classic highlighted the team depth and versatility, as seven gymnasts contributed to the incredible 114.825 team score. A powerful performance by Robin Peter earned a 38.650 AllAround, setting a new Airborne record for level 8.

Winning 18 individual and two team first place titles in two meets, the undefeated Level 8s captured MSO's attention and a spot on the prestigious "Top Ten Teams to Watch" list for 2010. MSO predicts, "... they'll contend at Regionals." Keep up the good work and Go Airborne!!

Level 7
The Level 7's had an early start to their 2010 season at the National Judges Cup Qualifier in December. Leta Dickinson qualified as a member of the Norcal Level 7 Team that went on to take first place at the Level 7 State Challenge in Kentucky.

Airborne's Level 7's continued to show improvements at the OC Classic, placing second as a team. At the Wine Country Classic in Rohnert Park the girls demonstrated confidence and poise. All the girls that competed beam stayed on the beam, with no falls! Karina Brouse led the team with a high all around of 37.625. The team has brought home 21 individual first place titles in these three meets. We are very pleased with their accomplishments thus far and eagerly anticipate them reaching their full potential by the State meet.

Hollywood is where the stars come to shine, and that's exactly what Airborne's optional gymnasts did at the "Lights,Camera,Action" meet at Universal Studios in L.A.. This was Airborne's toughest meet of the season, competing against teams from all over the United States. Our Level 7 and 8's brought home 1st place honors, while our Level 9 and 10's were 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Congratulations to Karina Brouse (L7), Fiona Stemmelin (L7), Roxanna Agah (L7), Tien Phan (L8), Maddie McKinnon (L8), Anya Barca-Hall (L9), and Nicole Corkill (L9) for winning 1st PLace AA in their age groups! Way to Airborne!! This meet also hosted a National Elite Qualifier session, which gave International Elite athletes the opportunity to qualify directly to the Visa Championships to be held in August. Airborne's Desi Borgese was among the top finishers in the meet, earning a spot to compete in the Visa USA Championships in Hartford, CT. Great job Desi!!
